Procurement: The Office will contribute to the target to transition to low-carbon, climate-resilient, and green operations The Office will use environmental criteria to reduce the environmental impact and ensure best value in government procurement decisions Applying green procurement to all material and supplies purchased in day-to-day operations, giving preference to materials containing recycled and post-consumer content and certified by external environmental agencies like EcoLogo and EnergyStar. This action includes purchasing chlorine free and 100% recycled paper. Green procurement incorporates environmental considerations into purchasing decisions and is expected to motivate suppliers to reduce the environmental impact of the goods and services they deliver, and their supply chains

Performance indicator: Proportion of material supplies purchased that fall under targeted category (i.e. containing recycled materials, post-consumer content, chlorine free and Eco-certified)

Target: 80% of all material and supplies purchased meet the green procurement criterion per the indicator

Disclosure and Reprisal Management

The performance indicators were updated in 2021–22 to reflect the current situation in the context of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Office has significantly reduced the paper purchases for printing as employees are working from home. Paper purchase is therefore no longer the main component of the strategy. Material purchases (office supplies for teleworking, books, electronic purchases, etc.) will contribute toward achieving the target.
