Public Sector Integrity Commissioner's Response to Auditor General Report to Parliament

Ottawa, April 11, 2014 – The Public Sector Integrity Commissioner, Mario Dion, accepts the findings of the report tabled today in Parliament by the Auditor General of Canada.

“I agree there were unacceptable procedural delays in dealing with two older case files before my Office and I want to assure federal public servants that we are doing our utmost to make sure this does not happen again,” said Mr. Dion.

Mandate of the investigation

During the course of another investigation conducted by the Office of the Public Sector Integrity Commissioner, the investigators obtained information indicating that a wrongdoing may have been committed by the then Regional Vice-Chairperson of the Ontario/Nunavut region of the Parole Board of Canada (Parole Board), Mr. Frederick Tufnell. A Vice-Chairperson of a regional division is responsible to the Chairperson for the professional conduct, training, and quality of decision-making of Board members assigned to that division.

Mario Dion, Public Sector Integrity Commissioner, to hold a news briefing following the tabling of a Case Report

Ottawa, January 29, 2014 – The Public Sector Integrity Commissioner, Mario Dion, will table a Case Report with the Speakers of the House of Commons and the Senate of Canada on Thursday, January 30, 2014. The Case Report deals with findings following an investigation of wrongdoing at a federal organization and will be considered public once it is tabled at the start of the sitting day of the House of Commons at 10 a.m.

Public Sector Integrity Commissioner makes a finding of wrongdoing at the Canada School of Public Service

Ottawa, November 7, 2013 – The Public Sector Integrity Commissioner, Mario Dion, tabled a Case Report of wrongdoing today in both Houses of Parliament. The report concluded that wrongdoing was committed by the previous President of the Canada School of Public Service, Mr. Guy McKenzie. 

PM welcomes appointment of new Public Sector Integrity Commissioner

Prime Minister Stephen Harper today welcomed the appointment of Mario Dion as the new Public Sector Integrity Commissioner. This appointment, which was recently approved by the Senate and the House of Commons, is effective December 21, 2011. Mr. Dion has been serving as Interim Public Sector Integrity Commissioner since December 2010.

Public Sector Integrity Commissioner of Canada to table a report on wrongdoing by a departmental manager

Ottawa, March 7, 2012 – The Public Sector Integrity Commissioner, Mario Dion, will table a Case Report on the findings in the matter of an investigation into a disclosure of wrongdoing with the Speakers of the House of Commons and the Senate of Canada on Thursday, March 8, 2012.

The Report will be posted on the Commissioner’s website immediately after its formal tabling at: www.psic-ispc.gc.ca
